In early October, I had the pleasure of touring both of FLW's houses in southwestern Pennsylvania....Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob.

Here's a photo I took of Fallingwater

Last night I watched a program on our local PBS station about FLW, and the beautiful Darwin Martin House in Buffalo, New York. The program also focused on the relationship between Wright and Martin, and was extemely interesting.
One Wright scholar describes the Martin House as "the most important house design of the first half of Wright's career, matched only by Fallingwater over 30 years later." Over the years this house was abandoned, vandalized, and some parts were even demolished, but it's now being completely restored. For more information, see The Darwin D. Martin House Complex.

This past week, I was in Ohio visiting relatives. To my surprise and delight, I found that there was a Frank Lloyd Wright house nearby! The Westcott House, in Springfield Ohio, was built in 1904 for a wealthy manufacturer. After his death the house had different owners, was hacked up into apartments, and finally was left in a sad state of disrepair. In 2000, a multi-million dollar restoration was begun, and the house was opened for all to enjoy last September.

Here are some photos I took of The Westcott House. As usual, no photos of the interior are allowed....good thing the exterior's so impressive. ;)

My name's Megan, and I love Frank Lloyd Wright. I'm lucky to live near two of his most beautiful creations...Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob. I'm unlucky because aside from those two houses, I've only seen one other. I've never been to Oak Park...I've never been to Wisconsin. Of course, I'm hoping to change that, eventually. ;)
